ISSUES
The Cure Party is not a one issue political movement. The following issues are either exclusive to the Cure Party or universal platform issues held by a number of parties, which can likewise be championed by our cause.

Research – “We’ve got to support agencies which improve life by helping them to do their work more efficiently and effectively.”
1) All life threatening disease, degenerative illness and other chronic life compromising health conditions must be accounted for with complete demographic studies.
2) Funding and staffing at NIH to be increased and / or redistributed to address the gravity of each disease.
3) Alternative therapies need to be professionally addressed as valid or in valid and they are no longer to be dismissed without cause.
4) All unsuccessful research which has led to dead ends must be cataloged and made transparently available for others to incorporate into new research studies. In doing so all prior researchers and or companies must be officially made a part of any and all victory compensation should future studies lead to new procedures, treatments, vaccines or cures. This is to be known as “Research Lineage Rewards”. Everyone and every entity which has contributed in part to the solutions must be compensated proportionately.
5) Rare life threatening and degenerative diseases must receive greater attention and focus. The relatively small populations of children and adults who struggle with currently incurable diseases, conditions and issues cannot be overlooked simply because they are such a small portion of our population.

Jobs - “We can rebuild our workforce by reintroducing good hardworking people who have overcome their illness.”
1) Employer incentives for companies willing to hire the sick or disabled.
2) Job security for those temporarily forced to leave work for extended periods of time to care for themselves in times of illness.
3) Job security for those temporarily forced to stay at home for extended periods of time to care for a sick family member.

Education – “Planting seeds for progress.”

1) In an effort to inspire young people to pursue degrees and professions in life saving fields, colleges are to promote and support degree programs in Science, Technology, Medicine, Health and Health Based Charity Non-Profits.
2) High Schools would likewise be encouraged to create and support inspiring extracurricular volunteer efforts in all of the above fields. Extra credits earned via volunteer efforts are to be given toward graduation.

Health & Healthcare – “In hard times people and families impacted by disease have often struggled in silence and anonymity in a society which moves around them. Those days are over. They will save themselves and improve the world for us all.”

1) Propose the creation of Predisposition Insurance (PDI) for people in families which have historically been impacted by serious disease and illness. PDI would be used to offset the massive costs associated with caregiving / quality of life issues should a person become diagnosed.
2) Improve quality, reduce costs of treatments and medications for those who are in critical need.
3) Insure the protection of medical records.
4) Improve guidelines regarding food and nutrition as it relates to health.
5) Establish a plan to care for people with serious health issues who live in remote areas. Rapid response and medical consultation is needed in a safe and timely affordable manner.
6) Introduce and / or reintroduce respite programs nationwide for caregivers in danger of burnout.

Life Security – “Not all who wander are lost. We can bring them home.”
Every year many people suffering with Alzheimer’s Disease and children with Autism wander away from their homes and into harms way. Occasionally they are found alive and healthy. Unfortunately though, there are many occasions when these people are never found or have lost their lives wandering outdoors in dangerous conditions. I propose to establish a Universal Search Protocol designed specifically with the nature of each disease in mind. Local authorities coupled with a designated civilian team with experience in each disease will follow a proven methodology which will increase the odds of bringing these people home alive.

Environment – “Environmental factors are among some of the greatest contributors to diseases around the world.”
1) Environmental laws need to be reviewed and strengthened to more effectively protect plant life, fish, wildlife, air quality and water. The goal for doing so will likewise protect human life more effectively.
2) Business particularly in the vicinity of residential, scholastic and parkland areas contributing to or creating unhealthy environments detrimental to the health of the people must be dealt with more stringently.
3) Revise and improve guidelines regarding the reclamation and usage of Brownfield Land and Superfund Sites. Future reclaimed sites must not be permitted to include residential uses, park lands, hospital / medical centers and schools.

Quality of Life – “Life challenged by illness is hard enough.”

1) Disabilities reform.
2) Protection against losing home & property in times of serious illness.
3) Caregiver Centers - All families with caregiving needs must have safe places to take and care for their loved ones. Based on the results of a comprehensive disease demographic study, our nation (on a state by state basis) must be encouraged to establish a chain of caregiving centers in high to medium population areas across the USA. Drawing from the surrounding population all centers would be located in regular intervals within a reasonable distance between work and home. For example each center may have a catchment radius of 10 miles. The ability to utilize care centers will aid our impacted families to maintain their jobs and the ability to have their loved ones safely cared for during work hours.

Housing – “No strangers to struggle, people who understand each other know best how to support each other.”
Incentives for developers to create affordable care communities specialized to suit individuals, couples and families impacted by life threatening disease and illness. Secure housing developments in which all residential units are owned, leased or rented by those impacted by a common disease. This could be modeled in part after Scandinavian developments in which the residents relate to each other’s struggles and can support one another during life challenging moments. Business, services and transportation critical to improving the quality of life for these residents would be located on site or nearby.

Campaign Reform – “The system must allow for all citizens of great will and determination to compete in the political process.”

1) Term limits.
2) Parameters are needed for official campaign time frame and spending limits.

We all have a mountain to climb.
Together we'll find a way.
